BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
This is for the design and rehabilitation of prestressed concrete slab bridges and to provide engineering services to implement the County’s Bridge Maintenance Program.
A request has been made by Public Works Engineering for emergency design services resulting from the onsite inspection of Bridge 014069 - O’Hara Drive over the Atlantis Waterway, where it was observed that there are damaged piles, resulting in a road closure until the repairs are completed. A quote was requested from Kimley-Horn & Associates of Sarasota, Florida for the emergency design services for the necessary repairs. This change order request is for an additional $9,500 for the emergency design services.
Therefore, requesting Board approval of Change Order #1 in the amount of $9,500 to Request for Letters File #24-117, Work Order #289 (Contract #15-421) Engineering Services - Greater Port Charlotte Bridges as awarded to Kimley-Horn & Associates of Sarasota, Florida.
