Recommended Action:
a) Approve MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Suncoast Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 2546 and Charlotte County for 40-hour Peak Load EMS Unit program; and
b) Authorize the County Administrator, or his designee, to execute the agreement.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
The County is implementing a 40-hour Peak Load EMS Unit Program which will be staffed in large part by newly-hired single-certified Paramedics. The IAFF requested to bargain, and the County participated in bargaining, certain associated terms and conditions of employment and certain impacts on existing terms and conditions of employment resulting from the Peak Load Program. This MOU memorializes the agreed upon terms and conditions of employment until such time as a successor Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) may be negotiated and ratified. The IAFF has ratified this MOU. Negotiations for a successor CBA are ongoing.
