Background:
Staff, on behalf of the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners, is requesting to amend the Charlotte County FLUM Series Map #1: 2030 Future Land Use for the subject property from Low Density Residential (LDR) to Parks and Recreation (PKR).
Staff is concurrently requesting to certify a Sending Zone from the subject property to sever two density units, and to amend the Charlotte County Zoning Atlas for the subject property from Residential Single-family 5 (RSF-5) to Parks and Recreation (PKR).
The subject property is located at 3100 Hickory Court, in the Punta Gorda area and in the South County area. The site contains approximately 0.42 acres. The subject property contains the County's Allapatchee Shores park. The stated purpose of this plan amendment and companion rezoning of the subject property is to make sure that the proposed FLUM designation of PKR and the zoning category of PKR are consistent with the current and future use of the property as a park.
