BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
This is an annual contract for the purchase and delivery of bunker gear, helmets, boots, and gloves on an “as required” basis for Fire/EMS Department personnel for use in daily fire rescue and emergency medical service operations.
Originally, Group C (Boots) was awarded by the Board to North America Fire Equipment Company of Decatur, Alabama on January 13, 2026. According to the vendor, the manufacturer of the Black Diamond X2 Leather Boot specified in the bid stopped taking orders in November 2025 due to the new NFPA Standard 1970. Consequently, North America Fire Equipment Company can no longer supply the boots in accordance with the contract and the boot portion of the contract will have to go back out to bid.
Therefore, it would be in the best interest of the County to rescind award of Request for Bid #25-601, Bunker Gear and Accessories - Annual Contract only for Group C (Boots) to North America Fire Equipment Company of Decatur, Alabama.
