BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

body

Background:

The Board of County Commissioners has authorized staff to begin the process to place a referendum on the ballot for the 2026 general election, which, if approved by the voters, would provide for an extension of the local sales tax beginning January 1, 2027.  In order to accomplish this, it is necessary for the Board to approve an ordinance levying a local sales tax and authorizing the aforementioned referendum regarding the sales tax extension.
