BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

body

Background:

In anticipation of the possibility of the MOU approval, seven (7) new full-time employees (FTE) and associated equipment were approved by the Board of County Commissioners and will be required to conduct associated maintenance activities on the drainage infrastructure. This equipment will be funded through MSBU vehicle equipment rates as they are utilized in any MSBU. Maintenance activities would be funded via the Mid-Charlotte Stormwater MSBU and Deep Creek Street & Drainage MSBU. The FTE and equipment will be purchased and onboarded in a phased approach. Preliminary estimates are in excess of $11 million dollars; this is incomplete as there are unknown drainage infrastructure and conditions on Deep Creek Section 23, Cayo Peleau LLC, Robert M. McQueen Trustee and golf course properties. This infrastructure is nearing the end of its useful life and has already failed in multiple locations. This could lead to increased costs and a special assessment for identified properties under the Mid-Charlotte Stormwater and/ or Deep Creek Street and Drainage MSBUs.
