The Board of County Commissioners at their regular agenda meeting of June 11, 2024, directed administration to conduct community outreach meetings with the Burnt Store area residents and their stakeholders. It was further directed that a consultant would be utilized to conduct two public meetings held during season at the Harborside Event center to collect input. Staff would then help the consultant coordinate a large workshop session with the elected officials of Charlotte and Lee Counties, as well as their respective Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO), and the elected officials of the Cities of Punta Gorda and Cape Coral to discuss results of the public meetings and provide direction on next steps moving forward with the Burnt Store corridor.
