BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

body

Background:

Public Safety would like to apply for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants through the Federal Department of Emergency Management (FEMA). This grant has a short turnaround time for grant submittal.  Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) was issued on November 12, 2024, and application submittal deadline if December 20, 2024.  The quick turnaround time is common with FEMA grants, and after discussion with County Attorney’s office and Fiscal/Grant Division, it was recommended that a Resolution from the Board of County Commissioners’ authorizing the County Administrator (or his/her designee) to sign any FEMA grant application would be beneficial.
