a) Approve the Agreement for Purchase and Sale of Real Property (“Agreement”) for the acquisition of a 158-acre property located at 22400 Gleneagles Terrace, Port Charlotte, Florida; and
b) Approve Resolution for budget adjustment BA25-153 in the amount of $3,000,000; and
c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Agreement; and
d) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Resolution.

Budgeted Action:
Approve budget adjustment BA25-153 in the amount of $3,000,000. Funding is supplied from the Capital Projects Fund, ad valorem reserves.

The Agreement is for the acquisition of a 158-acre property located at 22400 Gleneagles Terrace, Port Charlotte, Florida, on behalf of Community Services, Tourism, and Emergency Operations.
This purchase would allow for a joint venture between Community Services, Tourism, and possible private investors for development of sport tourism opportunities to include a long-term sport field complex. It would also provide Emergency Operations limitless post disaster uses to include base camps, volunteer villages, equipment staging, DDMS, commodity staging, logistical support area, etc.
Two appraisals have been completed as required by Florida Statute 125.355 when the value exceeds $500,000. These two values were $3,475,000 and $4,105,000 with an average valuation of $3,790,000. The proposed agreement for 22400 Gleneagles Terrace is $3,000,000, which is the asking price.
County staff has reviewed this proposal for acquisition and request approval by the Board of County Commissioners.
