BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

body

Background:

The boat ramp at Ainger Creek Park is over 40 years old and the County's oldest public boat ramp. Configuration of the ramp focuses vessel prop wash at the mangrove shoreline resulting in scouring. The park's existing trailer parking spaces are narrow and not adequate in length, resulting in reduced parking capacity. The existing stormwater management system does not function as designed, some finger piers are closed, and the seawall is deteriorated. Risks include, but are not limited to, seawall failure, further shoreline erosion/loss of mangroves, and increased impacts to vessel navigation from continued channel shoaling. The grant application provides additional funding to complete the project.
