Recommended Action:
Approve award of Request for Bid #26-286, Veterans Boulevard Intersection Improvements, to the lowest responsive, responsible, bidder, EHC Incorporated of Fort Myers, Florida in the amount of $3,375,027.61. This project consists of intersection improvements at Veterans Boulevard & Norman Street, Veterans Boulevard & Harbor Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard & Loveland Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard & Orlando Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard & Torrington Street, and Veterans Boulevard & Yorkshire Street.

Budgeted Action:
No action needed. Budgeted in the Capital Improvement Project “Intersection Improvements at Various Locations” as approved in the FY26 budget process. Funding is supplied from the Road Improvement Fund to be reimbursed by available road impact fees.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
This project consists of intersection improvements at Veterans Boulevard & Norman Street, Veterans Boulevard & Harbor Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard & Loveland Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard & Orlando Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard & Torrington Street, and Veterans Boulevard & Yorkshire Street. The project includes milling and resurfacing, auxiliary lane widening, drainage improvements, intelligent transportation system improvements, lighting improvements, and signing and pavement markings as indicated on the construction plans. The work also includes all other items of construction including, but not limited to, clearing and grubbing, removal and disposal of existing sidewalks, excavation and fill, grading, sodding, and maintenance of traffic.
After review and evaluation of the Bids received, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the County to award the Veterans Boulevard Intersection Improvements to the lowest responsive, responsible, bidder, EHC Incorporated of Fort Myers, Florida in the amount of $3,375,027.61.
Contract Time is 180 calendar days, with Liquidated Damages of $2,579 per calendar day
