Recommended Action:
a) Approve award of Request for Bid #26-066, Kings Highway Widening to Wright Construction Group, Inc. of Fort Myers, Florida for the total amount of $9,696,002.70. This project is for the widening of Kings Highway from two to four lanes from Sandhill Boulevard to the DeSoto County Line; and
b) Approve Resolution for budget adjustment BA26-225 in the amount of $681,144; and
c) Approve amendment to Capital Improvement Project “Kings Highway Widening - I75 to Desoto County Line”.

Budgeted Action:
Approve budget adjustment BA26-225 in the amount of $681,144 amending the FY26 budget for Capital Improvement Project “Kings Highway Widening - I75 to Desoto County Line” from $11,549,619 to $12,230,763. Funding is supplied from the Road Improvement Fund to be reimbursed by available road impact fees. Sufficient funding for the Utility improvement is available in Capital Improvement Project “Sandhill Widening” with funding supplied by the Utility Wastewater Connection Fee Fund and Utility Water Connection Fee Fund.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
The purpose of this contract is to secure the services of a Contractor for the successful widening of Kings Highway from two to four lanes from Sandhill Boulevard to the DeSoto County Line. The project includes roadway construction with associated drainage, sidewalks, street lighting, signing and marking. The project also includes Charlotte County utility relocations and improvements.
Therefore, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the County to approve award of Request for Bid 26-066, Kings Highway Widening to Wright Construction Group, Inc. of Fort Myers, Florida for the total amount of $9,696,002.70.
The completion time is 540 calendar days with a liquidated damages rate of $3,756 per a calendar day.
