Recommended Action:

Approve award of Request for Bid #24-528, Dorchester Street Sidewalk and Watermain Replacement (Phase 1), to Andrew Sitework, LLC of Fort Myers, Florida, for the total amount of $4,390,072.05. This is for the services of a Contractor to construct a sidewalk along the west side of Dorchester Street and includes sidewalk, drainage pipes, drainage improvements, utility adjustments, and watermain removal and installation.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. Budgeted in the Capital Improvement Project “Greater Port Charlotte Master Sidewalk Plan” as approved in the FY25 budget process. Funding is supplied from Greater Port Charlotte Street and Drainage MSBU assessments in the amount of $2,565,584.70. Budgeted in the Capital Improvement Project “Relocation Needs Utility Pipe Replacement - Public Works Projects” as approved in the FY25 budget process. Funding is supplied from the Utility Repair and Replacement Fund in the amount of $1,824,487.35.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

Public Works and Utilities has requested to secure the services of a Contractor to construct a 5-foot sidewalk along the west side of Dorchester Street. The project includes sidewalk, drainage pipes, drainage improvements, utility adjustments, and watermain removal and installation.   The work also includes all other items of construction including, but not limited to, removal and disposal of existing structures, site dewatering, flow diversion, pond construction, excavation and fill, grading, sodding, and maintenance of traffic.

 

Therefore, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the County to award to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, Andrew Sitework, LLC of Fort Myers, Florida, for the total amount of $4,390,072.05.

 

Completion time is 290 calendar days with $2,579 per calendar day for liquidated damages.
