a) Approve Amendment 2 to Contract #16-008 Design-Charlotte Harbor Water Quality Initiative - Phase 2 with Giffels-Webster Engineers, Inc. for the amended scope of services in the amount of $632,480; and
b) Authorize the Chairman to sign Amendment 2 to the Contract for the amended scope of services.

No action needed. Budgeted in Capital Improvement Project "Ackerman Septic to Sewer and Water Expansion" as approved in the FY26 budget process. Funding will be supplied by the Utility Water Connection Fee Fund & Ackerman MSBU assessments.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
On January 26, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners approved the ranking and negotiations for the Design-Charlotte Harbor Water Quality Initiative - Phase 2 with Giffels-Webster Engineers, Inc. to provide professional design services to complete a preliminary engineering report and design of the wastewater system and potable water system improvements for the Charlotte Harbor Water Quality Initiative - Phase 2 Project including the area generally south of Edgewater Drive, between Lakeview Boulevard and Cabaret Street, Port Charlotte, Florida. The project included additional potable water mains to serve areas that were not presently served as well as the replacement of existing water mains and storm/drainage improvements.

Amendment #1 eliminated areas of the project that are either inconsistent with the Board of County Commissioners approved MSBU boundary or the sewer shed of the vacuum station.
