REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION
recommendation
Recommended Action:
a) Approve and award of Request for Bids #24-460, In-Home Elder Care and Support Services, to multiple firms as listed on the attached, for the term of October 1, 2024, through and including September 30, 2025, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year options with mutual consent; and
b) Authorize the County Administrator, or his designee, to approve additional renewals.

Budgeted Action:
No action needed. Services are budgeted in the Special Grants fund as part of the FY25 budget process and are reimbursed through the Area Agency on Aging.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
Human Services contracts with the Area Agency on Aging as Lead Agency for the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs for the Community Care for the Elderly and the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative funding. This is an annual contract with firms to provide services such as, but not limited to, chores, companionship, emergency alert response, homemaker, personal care, and respite. Rates for bids were established at the time of bid solicitation and listed within the bid documentation. All firms agreeing to the pre-established rates, once reviewed for proper certification, are permitted to contract with the County.
Bids were evaluated by the Human Services Department. The following is a list of firms meeting the requirements of the bid:

4) Alternative Homemaking with a Heart of Southwest Florida, LLC
5) Guardian Medical Monitoring, LLC
6) Health Aid Company, Inc.
7) Home Healthcare Resources Corp
