BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
Manasota Key is critically eroded extending from Sarasota County to the limit of Charlotte County’s prior beach nourishment. Beach nourishment has been ongoing since 2003 along Stump Pass Beach State Park. Several Hurricanes and tropical storms have caused additional damage. A Manasota Key Beach Erosion Study was performed in 2016 which further documented the urgent need to implement a plan to restore this area. This grant application will assist in providing the funding necessary to perform the actions required to restore this critically eroded area.
