REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

 

recommendation

Recommended Action:

a) Approve a grant agreement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through Florida Division of Emergency Management in the amount of $474,863.20 for the Burnt Store Water Reclamation Facility Saferoom; and

b) Approve Resolution for budget adjustment BA26-249 in the amount of $623,259; and

c) Approve a new Capital Improvements Project “Burnt Store WTP Saferoom (HMGP-4673)” with an FY26 budget of $593,580; and

d) Authorize Chairman to sign Resolution, grant agreement and grant related documents.

Budgeted Action:

Approve budget adjustment BA26-249 in the amount of $623,259 for design and sub-recipient management costs.  A new Capital Improvements Project “Burnt Store WTP Saferoom (HMGP-4673)” in the amount of $593,580 will be added to the adopted FY26 Capital Improvement Program, which excludes the Sub-Recipient Management Cost. Funding for this expenditure will come from County reserves and will be reimbursed by Florida Division of Emergency Management in the amount of $445,184.25 Sub-Recipient Management Cost in the amount of $29,678.95 are 100% reimbursable. The local share of $148,394.75 is anticipated to be reimbursed by Florida Commerce Hazard Mitigation Grant Management Program.

Background: 

The community saferoom project at Burnt Store Water Reclamation Facility Saferoom in Charlotte County, Florida will provide essential protection to residents and visitors during severe weather events, particularly in the immediate onset and aftermath of hurricanes. Grant will help to build resiliency, mitigate future damages, and protect the environment and citizens.
