BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
The I-75 Force Main Crossing is a vital component of the City of Punta Gorda (City) FY22-26 Capital Improvement Program. The City intends to upgrade a 20-inch DIP wastewater force main, which was installed in 1981 during the initial construction of I-75.
Situated approximately 800 feet to the south of the East Henry Street overpass, the project involves installing a new 24-inch HDPE DR 11 force main via horizontal directional drill (HDD). The new force main will be connected to the existing 20-inch DIP on either side of I-75.
In consideration of $10.00 and other valuable consideration, Charlotte County (“Grantor”) is granting a non-exclusive utility easement across County-owned property to the City (“Grantee”) to facilitate this infrastructure upgrade and ongoing operation, maintenance, and reconstruction of sewage collection and water distribution systems.
County staff have reviewed this easement document and recommend approval.
