Recommended Action:
a) Approve grant application between Florida Communities Trust and Charlotte County with proceeds in the amount of $3,447,000 to be used for acquisition of property in Placida Florida; and
b) Authorize the Chairman, or his designee, to sign memo and any other grant related documents.

Budgeted Action:
No action needed. A budget adjustment and capital improvements project amendment will be brought to the Board for approval, if awarded. Adjustment will be made to the Capital Improvement Project “Placida Passive Park Phase 2”. Grant funding in the amount of $3,447,000.00 will be provided by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. There is a required County match of 25% in the amount of $1,149,000.00. The source of the local cost share in the anticipated amount of $5,503,000.00 has yet to be identified but will need to be determined at the time of acceptance.

Background:
The Board of County Commissioners has indicated a desire to purchase parcels in Placida. A grant application for funding in Fiscal Year 2027 could assist the County purchase.
