REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

 

recommendation

Recommended Action:

a) Approve agreement between the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and Charlotte County in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for hurricane response marine debris removal; and

b) Approve Resolution authorizing budget adjustment #BA26-203 in the amount of $1,000,000; and

c) Authorize the Chair, or designee, to sign any grant related documents.

Budgeted Action:

Approve budget adjustment BA26-203 in the amount of $1,000,000. The grant is 100% funded and there is no local match required by the County.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

Remove and dispose of up to 2,377 tons of debris deposited by Hurricane Ian into 37 miles of navigable non-county-maintained channels throughout Charlotte County. This will improve safety and restore flow to these areas, which will assist in preventing flooding due to impeded waterflow.
