a) Approve the applications and Resolution awarding land donations to Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity, Inc., as recommended; or
b) Approve the applications and Resolution with modifications to the recommendation; or
c) Deny the applications and Resolution; or
d) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Resolution, if applicable.

Background:

The Charlotte HOME (Housing Opportunities Made Easier) program offers, among other incentives, the donation of County surplus land suitable for affordable housing to eligible non-profit organizations for the purpose of development of affordable housing for eligible renters/buyers. Six (6) applications were submitted by Habitat for Humanity on 11.17.2025. A Review Committee meeting was held on 12.17.2025 where the applications were reviewed and scored in an open, public meeting. The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) considered the Review Committee scores and recommendations for each application and make the following recommendations to the BOCC:
a) Approve the donation of 229 Rockaway Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33954
b) Approve the donation of 237 Rockaway Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33954
c) Approve the donation of 14162 Massey Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33953
d) Approve the donation of 16037 Galena Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33954
e) Approve the donation of 16288 Chicopee Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33954
The 6th application was withdrawn by Habitat for Humanity following AHAC discussion and denial recommendation.
The AHAC respectfully requests consideration and approval of these recommendations. If approved, the County Attorney's Office will proceed with drafting the required conveyance instruments.
