REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

Recommended Action:

a) Approve ranking of firms for Request for Proposal #25-718, Design - Live Oak Point Park Phase 2: 1st Weiler Engineering Corporation, of Punta Gorda, Florida; 2nd Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc, of Sarasota, Florida; 3rd DMK Associates, Inc., of Venice, Florida; and

b) Approve start of negotiations with the top ranked firm; and

c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Contract after completion of negotiations, if contract does not exceed the amount of $350,000.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. Funding for this Hurricane Milton repair is being provided through the County’s general revenues and collected in the hurricane fund. There is an anticipated reimbursement of 75% from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), with a Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) reimbursement of 12.5%, and a local match of 12.5%.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This proposal is requesting the services from a qualified firm to perform design of construction ready plans to be incorporated into the County’s bid documents and all applicable Federal, State and Local permitting and construction oversight services for the partial demolition and complete replacement/repair of the boardwalk, T-dock fishing pier, water taxi pier and upland walkways, including ramps and railings.

 

Five (5) proposals were received and evaluated by the Professional Services Committee consisting of Lonne Moore, Projects Manager, Community Services, Matt Logan, Projects Manager, Public Works, and Scott Brouillard, Project Manager, Facilities Management. Copies of the proposals are attached, along with the breakdown of ranking.
