BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
Pursuant to the Charlotte County Local Participation Fund Ordinance, codified in Part II, Chapter 2-3, Article VII of the Charlotte County Code of Ordinances and adopted on July 13, 2021, the Letter of Agreement is a required document related to the Local Participation Fund and must be submitted to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) by October 1, 2026. The Letter of Agreement currently contains a placeholder amount of $1 for Fiscal Year 2026-2027, which is intended to reflect the County's intent to participate and satisfy the statutory timeline. Later in Fiscal Year 2027, AHCA will provide an amended Letter of Agreement, and a public hearing will be scheduled for the Board to consider and adopt the rate of collection.
