There has been a noticeable increase in the operation of electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, and similar personal electric powered machines on public sidewalks and rights of way, which presents enhanced opportunities for crashes and injuries with other pedestrian and persons.
The Ordinance imposes specific regulations to protect the health, safety, and welfare of County residents, guests, and visitors by reducing the likelihood of serious bodily injury or death arising from conflicts between vehicular traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians progressing on the sidewalks, crosswalks, intersections, bicycle paths, multiuse paths, greenways, and trail networks in the County’s unincorporated area.
