REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

Recommended Action:
a) Approve award of Request for Bid #26-289, Bayshore Grass Parking Phased Improvements, to the lowest, responsible bidder, Don B. Construction, Inc. of Punta Gorda, Florida, in the amount of $482,431.95. This is to secure the services of a licensed Contractor to perform hardening improvements to the Bayshore Park parking area; and
b) Approve Resolution for budget adjustment BA26-238 in the amount of $427,442; and
c) Approve amending Capital Improvement Project “Charlotte Harbor CRA Parking Improvements and Pedestrian Walkway” increasing total project by $427,442.

Approve budget adjustment BA26-238 in the amount of $427,442 amending Capital Improvement Project “Charlotte Harbor CRA Parking Improvements and Pedestrian Walkway” from $1,648,140 to $2,075,582. Funding is supplied from Tax Increment Financing.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
The purpose of this bid is to secure the services of a licensed Contractor to perform hardening improvements to the Bayshore Park parking area, including site clearing, subbase installation, drainage improvements, curb and ditch construction, concrete flumes, and paver installation.
Therefore, it is in the best interest of the County to award Request for Bid #26-289, Bayshore Grass Parking Phased Improvements, to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Don B. Construction, Inc. of Punta Gorda, Florida, in the total amount of $482,431.95.
Completion time is 120 calendar days with a liquidated damages rate of $1,690 per calendar day.
