REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

Recommended Action:

a) Approve Amendment 1 to Contract 23-464, Transportation Development Plan with Alfred Benesch & Company of Tampa, FL in the amount of $49,038.33; and

b) Authorize the chairman to sign Amendment 1. This an additional study that will provide support for Transit to assess and optimize the existing on-demand services.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. A quarterly budget will be brought to the Board for approval.  Grant funding will be provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 Grant. Transportation Development Credits will be used as a “soft match”, which allows the federal share to be reimbursed up to 100% as authorized by Chapter 53 of Title 49 U.S.C.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

On October 10, 2023 the BCC approved the ranking and start of negotiations for the Transportation Development Plan (TDP) with Alfred Benesch & Company to provide the professional services necessary to prepare a 10-year TDP and to prepare and submit annual updates in the form of a progress report on the 10-year TDP for Charlotte County Transit that twill ensure compliance with the TDP Rule 14-73.001 ad adopted on February 20, 2007, while setting the stage for a future vision and strategic implementation of potential expansion and specific public transportation services for the County.

 

Amendment 1 is for an additional study that will provide support for Transit to assess and optimize the existing on-demand services. It will evaluate transit operations, identify opportunities for new or improved services, and analyze the use of high-capacity vehicles to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
