Recommended Action:
Approve award of Piggyback Purchase, File #26-534, for a Directional Drill Machine to Vermeer Southeast of Fort Myers, Florida for a total purchase price of $237,956.74, per the Florida Sheriff’s Association Contract #FSA23-EQU21.1. This equipment is to be used by the Utilities Department.

No action needed. Budgeted in the Capital Improvement Project “Additional Heavy, Small and Misc. Fleet Equipment (FY26/FY27)” as approved in the FY26 budget process. Funding is provided by Utility rate revenues.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
This purchase request is for a new Vermeer D10x15 Series Ill Horizontal Directional Drill Package with a 60 HP Deutz ID2.9 T4F Diesel engine. This will be utilized by Charlotte County Utilities to install water/sewer lines, conduit and other underground utilities. This unit is available through the Florida Sheriff’s Association #FSA23-EQU21.1 Equipment Contract for Item #194 which is active through September 30, 2026.
This purchase includes the MX150 Mixing System, ARESSYSAF8 Drilling Locator System, 10-Ton Heavy Duty Trailer, 500 Inline Tank with 2″x50′ Hose Assembly, Additional Tooling Package and 24 months, unlimited hours-1000 hours interval warranty.
Therefore, it is in the best interest of the County to award the Piggyback Purchase File #26-534, Directional Drill Machine, to Vermeer Southeast of Fort Myers, Florida for the total purchase of $237,956.74.
