Background:

Currently the Conservation Charlotte program authorizes the acquisition of environmentally sensitive lands and millage is set to expire in 2027. The proposed renewal of the Conservation Charlotte Program will continue the acquisition of environmentally sensitive lands and expand the program to include additional criteria to evaluate potential properties that are degraded natural lands that can be restored, as well as criteria to evaluate potential properties for floodplain conservation.
