BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This Board action authorizes the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners to execute a Lease Agreement for space currently being utilized by Emergency Operations Center (E.O.C.) for storage of supplies and equipment.  This lease is for the property located at 10381 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda (Old Goodwill Building) consisting of 12,682 square feet.  The existing lease shall terminate on February 28, 2025. This new lease will allow the continued use of this facility.

 

Facilities and E.O.C. has requested Real Estate Services work with the owner of the property (RGUM, LLC.) to execute a new lease agreement.  The lease with RGUM, LLC will commence on March 1, 2025, and expire on February 29, 2026. There is one (1), one-year option to renew which must be agreed upon by both parties in writing no less than six (6) months prior to the term end date.

 

The rate during the term of the new lease is $15.00 per square foot, which is $15,852.50 per month ($190,230.00 annually) which is consistent with the existing lease agreement.
