REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

Recommended Action:
a) Approve Amendment 2 to Contract 23-464, Transportation Development Plan with Alfred Benesch & Company of Tampa, Florida in the amount of $147,862.00; and
b) Authorize the Chairman to sign Amendment 2. This additional study will provide support for Transit to assess the feasibility of adding a fixed-route system to enhance current transit services in Charlotte County. The study will evaluate transit demand, operational requirements, and capital improvements to help prepare the County for future mobility needs.

Budgeted Action:
No action needed. A third quarter budget amendment will be brought to the Board for approval. Grant funding for this capital expense will be provided by Federal Transit Administration Section 5307 Grant. There is a 20% local match required. Transportation Development Credits will be used as a "soft match", which allows the federal share to be reimbursed up to 100% as authorized by Chapter 53 of the Title 49 U.S.C.

Background:
On October 10, 2023, the BCC approved the ranking and start of negotiations for the Transportation Development Plan (TDP) with Alfred Benesch & Company to provide the professional services necessary to prepare a 10-year TDP and to prepare and submit annual updates in the form of a progress report on the 10-year TDP for Charlotte County Transit that twill ensure compliance with the TDP Rule 14-73.001 ad adopted on February 20, 2007, while setting the stage for a future vision and strategic implementation of potential expansion and specific public transportation services for the
County.
