Recommended Action:

Approve agreement of File #26-502 Marine Turtle Monitoring for 2026 for Coastal Wildlife Club, Inc. of Englewood, Florida for a total amount of $225,000.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. Budgeted in the Public Works - MSBU/TU Dredging Capital Maintenance Plan as approved in the FY26 budget process. Funding is provided from the Don Pedro/Knight Island Beach Renourishment MSBU assessments, Manasota Key Beach Renourishment MSBU assessments and Stump Pass Dredging MSTU, ad valorem. Eligible monitoring costs will be reimbursed at 35.65% through grant funding from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This agreement is for the Marine Turtle Monitoring services for the period of April 15, 2026 through and including December 31, 2026 nesting season. These services must be performed by the FDEP permit holder, Coastal Wildlife Club, Inc. The scope of services is for monitoring: Area 1 Manasota Key; Area 2 Stump Pass Beach State Park; and Area 3 Palm Island-Knight Island and Don Pedro Island.
