b) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Resolution.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

Pursuant to the 911 Emergency Communications lnterlocal Agreement, the Sheriff of Charlotte County is charged with "implementing, operating, maintaining and supervising the County 911 System, within the County's physical boundaries and across jurisdictional boundaries as determined by regional initiatives.” The County's Emergency 911 Communication Center is the largest and primary PSAP call center in the County, answering approximately 86,413 emergency 911 calls a year. Designating the County’s PSAP, and its ancillary facilities, as the County’s primary PSAP would reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and protect the lives, health and safety of County residents and visitors.
