Recommended Action:
a) Approve Amendment #2 to Contract No. 2023000272, Construction Manager at Risk - Hurricane Ian Recovery - Mid County, with Wharton-Smith, Inc. for the GMP for Priority Insured Asset Repairs in the amount of $3,834,268; and
b) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Amendment #2 to Contract No. 2023000272.

Budgeted Action:
No action needed. Hurricane costs are being collected in the Hurricane Fund. Funding is supplied from county general revenues, with anticipated cost sharing/reimbursement from insurance.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
On March 14, 2023, the Board approved the start of negotiations with the top ranked firm, Wharton-Smith, Inc. of Sanford, Florida. Then on October 24, 2023, the Board approved Amendment #1 to the contract for the initial Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).
Amendment #2 is the second of two Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates to include Hurricane Ian Recovery projects to various insured assets within Charlotte County. Included are in-depth assessments of the facilities identified and prioritized from the County’s insured asset list.
Therefore, it is requested that the Board approve Amendment #2 to Contract No. 2023000272, Construction Manager at Risk - Hurricane Ian Recovery - Mid County, with Wharton-Smith, Inc. for the GMP for Priority Insured Asset Repairs in the amount of $3,834,268.
