Approve Change Order 1 to File #26-434 with Alta Equipment Company of Tampa, Florida, under Florida Sheriff's Association Contract #FSA23-EQU21.0, to substitute the originally approved Volvo EWR 170F Wheeled Excavator with a Volvo EWR 150 Wheeled Excavator, resulting in an approximate savings of $47,245.

No action needed. Budgeted in the Heavy Equipment Replacement plan as approved in the FY26 budget process. Funding is supplied by the Vehicle Replacement fund and will be charged to Public Works, Maintenance & Operations division.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
On May 26, 2026, the Board approved the purchase request for a replacement Excavator to be utilized by Public Works Road Maintenance Division. This will replace unit #35366.
Following award of the purchase, the manufacturer identified that the originally specified Volvo EWR 170F Wheeled Excavator is not compatible with the required outrigger configuration due to a manufacturer specification error. The manufacturer has recommended substituting the Volvo EWR 150 Wheeled Excavator, which meets the County's operational requirements and is fully compatible with the required outriggers. Approval of this change order will authorize the model substitution and reduce the purchase price by approximately $47,245, resulting in cost savings to the County with no impact to the intended use of the equipment.
Therefore, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the County to approve award of Change Order 1 to File #26-434 with Alta Equipment Company of Tampa, Florida, under Florida Sheriff's Association Contract #FSA23-EQU21.0, to substitute the originally approved Volvo EWR 170F Wheeled Excavat...
