Background:

In 2019, the Manchester Waterway Civic Association funded a report to determine the feasibility of constructing a secondary access channel to the interior canal system. From 2021 through 2023 the Board of County Commissioners and staff discussed potential agencies that would be involved, project stopping points, costs for design and permitting. In 2024, the Board of County Commissioners requested feedback from property owners within the proposed boundary of the project. A one-sheet introducing the project, maps, and anticipated project costs along with a survey postcard were distributed in August 2025.
