Recommended Action:
a) Approve award of Request for Bid #20-551, Gulf Boulevard Sidewalks, to EHC, Inc., of Naples, Florida, for the total amount of $1,955,587.12. This is for the construction of sidewalks and improvements on Gulf Boulevard; and
b) Approve Resolution for budget adjustment BA21-001 in the amount of $255,993 increasing the CIP project “Manasota Key Community Plan.”

Budgeted Action:
Approve budget adjustment BA21-001 in the amount of $255,993, amending the FY21 budget for CIP project “Manasota Key Community Plan” from $2,904,819 to $3,160,812. Additional funding is needed for construction of sidewalks and improvements and will be provided by the Manasota Key Street and Drainage Maintenance MSTU ad valorem. end

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)
Background:
It is the intent of Charlotte County to secure the services of a Contractor to furnish all materials, labor, equipment and all other appurtenances required to construct a five-foot sidewalk, crosswalks, decorative lighting, and landscaping on Gulf Boulevard from the South end of the beach parking to the entrance of the Stump Pass State Park. This project also includes the removal and disposal of existing structures, site dewatering, flow diversion, excavation and fill, grading, sodding, maintenance of the new landscaping and maintenance of traffic.
After review and evaluation of the bids received, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the County to award Gulf Boulevard Sidewalks to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, EHC, Inc. of Naples, Florida, for the total amount of $1,955,587.12.
Contract time is 270 calendar days, with Liquidated Damages of $4,276 per calendar day.
