BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
The Board has tasked the Real Estate Services Division with reviewing the real property inventory and compiling a list of properties to be declared surplus to County needs and submit for disposal.

The parcels of land described in the attached Exhibit "A" have been reviewed internally and County staff has determined that there is no current or future County need. If approved as surplus by the BCC, the properties will be disposed of as mandated by Chapter 125.35 of the Florida Statutes.

Working with the Purchasing Department, Real Estate Services will ensure that this bid opportunity will be made known to the adjacent property owners, local realtors and potential residential developers. It is our intention to post these parcels and the upcoming bid opportunity on the County's website as well. The attached maps depict their locations.

The mandated bid process will be administered by the Purchasing Department. After the bids are received, they must be brought back to the BCC for consideration and approval. The benefit to the County in proceeding with this initial phase of disposal of surplus properties is two-fold. The first is the receipt of funds to the County from the disposal action. The second is returning these properties to the tax roll to generate tax revenue.
