BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

body

Background:

Florida Power & Light is in the beginning stages of their Storm Secure Project where the goal of the program is to relocate overhead power lines underground.  To accomplish this program, FPL has requested easements from Charlotte County.

The Resolution being presented for your consideration allows Real Estate Services to grant easement interests to FPL and execute the necessary documents for providing FPL the requested easements.

County staff will review and approve each easement request to validate the suitability of the easement location to confirm it does not interfere with County needs.

In the initial rollout of the program, FPL has requested 3 easements; with additional easement requests expected as the program expands.  The purpose of the Resolution is to streamline the process and avoid potential project delays.
