On September 15, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) directed Charlotte County Utilities to move forward with the planning and design of Lake View Midway Water Quality Improvement Project. The project will be financed with Capital Improvement Project funds, grants, and the establishment of a Municipal Service Benefit Unit for the properties benefited by the Project.

The County may be utilizing the FDEP State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan program to finance the construction phase of the Lake View Midway Improvements. The State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Rule 61-503.700(g)(1) requires a public participation process at a public meeting which must be held before the project acceptance of the planning recommendations. To meet this requirement, Giffels-Webster Engineering, Inc. will be providing a presentation to explain the project and the financial impacts to the public.

According to FDEP Florida Rule 62.503.700(3), under paragraph "J", requires the recipient of an SRF project involving planning, design, construction, and procurement process must "adopt a resolution or other action establishing Board commitment to implement the planning recommendations".
