Recommended Action:

a) Approve ranking of firms for Request for Proposal #24-147, Design Generator Installations: 1st Johnson Engineering Inc. of Port Charlotte, Florida; 2nd BCER Engineering Inc. of St. Petersburg, Florida; 3rd Ayres Associates, Inc. of Tampa, Florida; and

b) Approve start of negotiations; and

c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Contract after completion of negotiations.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. Budgeted in the approved FY24 Capital Improvement Project “Emergency Management Generators - FY23 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.” Grant funding of $756,678 (90%) is budgeted in the Capital Projects Fund, including the required 10% match in the amount of $84,075. Expenses will be reimbursed by FEMA via the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This is for the professional design services for the installation of two (2) 500 KW emergency generators to be utilized in the event of a power outage. The generators will be installed at 1185 Centennial Boulevard and 21500 Gibralter Drive.

 

A Request for Proposal was issued and generated three (3) responses. Those responses were evaluated by the Professional Services Committee consisting of Jenny Buccieri, Project Manager - Facilities; Jeremy Wilkerson, Project Coordinator - Community Services; and Bradley Geelen, Emergency Management Specialist - Public Safety. Copies of the top three (3) proposals are attached, along with a breakdown of the rankings.
