REQUESTED MOTION/ACTION

Recommended Action:

a) Approve the ranking of firms for Request for Proposals #24-065, Design Fire Stations 3, 6, and 17: 1st Schenkel Shultz of Sarasota, Florida; 2nd Fawley Bryant Architects, Inc. of Sarasota, Florida; and 3rd BSSW Architects, a GHC Studio of Fort Myers, Florida; and

b) Approve start of negotiations; and

c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Contract after completion of negotiations.

This is for the design of Fire Stations 3, 6, and 17.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. Budgeted in Capital Improvements Projects "Fire Station 3 Replacement," “Fire Station 6 Replacement,” and “Fire Station 17, Additional,” each approved in the FY24 budget process. Funding is supplied from the 2020 Sales Tax Extension.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This is for the services necessary for the professional design of Fire Stations 3, 6, and 17.

Fire Station 3 is located at 4322 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte.

Fire Station 6 is located at 27589 Disston Avenue, Punta Gorda

Fire Station 17 is to be built around the Tuckers Grade Boulevard and Tamiami Trail area.

All three stations are to be within the geographical response time, be designed in accordance with the County fire station prototype design standards, and support property evaluation and selection. 

 

Eight proposals were received and evaluated by the Professional Services Committee consisting of Justin Dunn, Project Manager - Facilities; Jack McStravic, Deputy Building Official - Community Development; and John Molenda, Deputy Chief - Public Safety. Copies of the top three proposals are attached, along with a breakdown of the ranking.
