Recommended Action:

Approve ranking of firms for Request for Proposals #24-097, Design - William R Gaines Jr Veterans Memorial Park and GC Herring Park: 1st Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. of Sarasota, Florida; 2nd DMK Associates, Inc. of Englewood, Florida; and 3rd The Weiler Engineering Corporation of Punta Gorda, Florida; and

b) Approve start of negotiations; and

c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Contract after completion of negotiations.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. Budgeted in Capital Improvements Projects "GC Herring Park Phase 2" and "Wm. R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park Ph 2" each approved in the FY24 budget process. Funding is supplied from the 2020 Sales Tax Extension.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This if for a firm to provide the professional design services of William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park, Phase 2, in conjunction with G.C. Herring Park, Phase 1These projects shall include Community Services design standards, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principals, and the meeting of any grant requirements.

Three proposals were received and evaluated by the Professional Services Committee consisting of Vicki Chichura, Projects Manager - Facilities Construction & Maintenance; Ben Bailey, Community Development Director; and Lacey Solomon, Project Manager - Community Services. A copy of the proposals are attached along with a breakdown of the ranking.
