Recommended Action:

a) Approve Amendment #1 to Contract #23-154, Repair or Replace Rotonda MSBU Bridge 014113 with KCI Technologies, Inc. for additional engineering services in the amount of $30,000; and

b) Authorized the Chairman to sign Amendment #1.

Budgeted Action:

No action needed. A 4th Quarter Budget Adjustment will be brought to the Board for approval. The County anticipates reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. There is a 12.5% local match required that will be provided from the Hurricane Fund.

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background: 

This is for a professional engineering firm with experience in design and rehabilitation of prestressed concrete slab bridges to provide engineering services to determine the most cost-effective solution to restore/rehabilitate/replace the 3-span prestressed concrete slab bridge that was severely damaged by the Hurricane Ian event. The contract was approved with KCI Technologies, Inc.

 

This Amendment is for the additional engineering services need to support the County’s efforts in responding to FEMA questions and comments. Below is summary of the anticipated services and fees:

 

-Attend meetings with FEMA or meetings with the County and/or others related to FEMA involvement in the project.

-Provide responses to project related FEMA questions or requests for information.

-Provide supplemental information to the Feasibility Report that was previously   prepared under this contract.

-Research construction means and methods related to the project.
